Finding your way to Garn‑y‑Skirrid

Your friendly country bunkhouse in Monmouthshire

Set your sat-nav for NP7 8AW and follow the directions below, especially for the last half mile. The house is on an unmade track (nice and quiet) just off the main B4521 in Llanddewi Skirrid. If you are using an OS map the grid reference is SO345168. Here's the Google map, which should show the house in the middle of the map.

Navigating from the North-East on the B4521 (from Skenfrith and Ross-on-Wye)

The easiest route from the north-east is to continue from Ross-on-Wye via the A40 dual carriageway all the way to Abergavenny (watch for the turn off to Abergavenny after Monmouth). If you do this, you'll arrive from the south-west, so please follow these instructions.

If you prefer to come along the B4521, which is a lovely country road off the A49 (signposted Abergavenny), you will come through Skenfrith (nice castle) and Llanvetherine (watch for the narrow little bridge) and then towards Llanddewi Skirrid. Just before you reach the Llanddewi Skirrid sign you will reach a crossroads. Garn-y-Skirrid is just down a track off this, as below:

After Llanvetherine you will come up a long hill, passing the Lane's garage on your right. Continue past this, watching for a crossroads at the top of the hill.

At the crossroads, fork right down the track. You will see a sign to Garn-y-Skirrid on your right.

Just a few yards down the track, Garn-y-Skirrid is in the garden of the second house on your right. The main house is called 'Middle House', because it is the middle of three houses (sorry about that - it was named before we moved here!).
